Trends | EdTech Policy Summit

EdTech Summit imageHere’s a big one for edtech leadership: the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA), in conjunction with the Software & Information Industry Association’s (SIIA) Ed Tech Government Forum, will jointly host the 2013 Washington Education Technology Policy Summit on April 10-11 at the Four Points by Sheraton and on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Featuring bipartisan speakers, presentations and panels, the focus will be on policy trends under consideration in Congress, the U.S. Department of Education and the Federal Communications Commission, as well as how these policy trends will affect schools, districts and state education systems across the country. The summit provides education and technology leaders opportunities for in-person discussions with key policymakers on critical issues, namely, advancing student learning. Here’s a chance to advance the conversation about the important role of technology in K-12 school reform and improvement.

Key talking points on the agenda:

  • Finalizing the FY13 funding levels for education;
  • Passing Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) reauthorization, including the reestablishment of a separate ed tech program;
  • Addressing national readiness for online Common Core state assessments; and
  • Raising the E-Rate funding cap.

Attendees can meet face-to-face with U.S. Representatives and Senators through scheduled Congressional visits. Visit: www.iste.org/edtechsummit. SIIA member? Visit: www.siia.net/etgf.
