Founded in 2011, FreshGrade was created by a dedicated team who saw a better way to show student achievement and progression. It is among the very first solutions to merge the concepts of portfolios, gradebooks, and report cards into one time-saving and research-backed platform.
Using the portfolio and assessment platform, stakeholders have secure access to view, comment, and upload artifacts representative of a student’s learning. By providing teachers with a deeper understanding of a student’s learning, they are better informed to make the appropriate strategic choices on learning instruction as it relates to that child. While parents are given ongoing communication about learning, students are given the opportunity to self-reflect on their growth.
Schools and Districts are using it to track progress towards strategic initiatives including personalized learning, project-based learning, data-driven instruction, assessment, parent engagement, student ownership, and self-directed learning. It’s also used to augment interim reporting and parent/teacher conferences with summary reports. Some districts are even using it to replace traditional report cards.
All these features and benefits were contributing factors in earning FreshGrade top honors in The EdTech Awards 2019 from EdTech Digest and Winner of the Cool Tool Award for “Best Communication Solution”.
