Kyle Berger: This CTO Loves Helping His Community

Two decades of working for schools, parents, and students.

Kyle Berger, Chief Technology Officer at Grapevine-Colleyville ISD in Texas, has over 19 years in K-12 technology leadership spread across districts of various sizes and demographics. Kyle is known as a transformer of educational technology. His nearly two decades of service is full of vast experiences in one-to-one deployment, complete district revitalization and overseeing of bond programs, redefining technology in several districts. He currently serves on several corporate advisory boards and is a guest speaker for educational technology transformation to corporations and school systems around the country.

Kyle currently oversees a 9-year-old 1-to-1 student program offering 24/7 access to all 13,700 students within his district. Part of the GCISD program allows for access to be provided for any student who cannot afford internet access at home, accomplished with over 500 district offered mobile hot spots.

Kyle identified the need to better assist the community with the overall understanding of the technical world in which our current students are living; he established a Parent Technology Academy bring over 200 parents together each month for educational programs. The Parent Technology Academy program has grown with media coverage throughout Dallas/Fort worth Area going on 3 years now.

He has continued to expand technology possibilities throughout GCISD, by introducing VR and e-sports classes around the district.

For his efforts, Kyle is the Winner of The EdTech Leadership Award for School Leader of the Year as part of The EdTech Awards 2020 from EdTech Digest.
