James Rice: Dedicated to Teaching and Studying

James Rice is the author and creator of the award-winning English as a Second Language textbook series “Study It”. He has developed digital and enhanced digital ESL textbooks for Grammar, ESL Conversation, Listening Skills, Pronunciation and Business English. These interactive textbooks are used in over 40 schools, universities and NGOs around the world.  

James produces a weekly podcast dedicated to teaching and studying abroad called The James Rice Show. The podcast has over 200 episodes ranging from How to Flip a Classroom to A/R in the Classroom. It is broadcast in over 60 countries on Apple Podcast, Spotify, Stitcher, YouTube and Soundcloud.

In 2015 James was the winner of the iBooks Author of the Year, iBooks Author Conference, Nashville. The Study It Series was awarded the Academic/Reference Digital Book of the Year in New York. It also won the Benjamin Franklin Award.

James is a strong advocate for Mobile Learning, Project-Based Learning and Flipping the Classroom. He has spent several years developing the Study It series to work in language schools, school boards and international schools that are innovating the classroom. In addition, he launched the first-ever digital ESL Camp for junior learners in New York City.

He was the founder and Director of Connect School of Languages, an innovative 1-to-1 iPad language school in Toronto, Canada.

James is also one of the stars of the successful Teacher 1999 vs Teacher 2020 YouTube series with close to 1 million views.

As part of The EdTech Awards 2020, James was recognized as “Best EdTech Author/Speaker” with an EdTech Leadership Award. “I am honored to be recognized by The Edtech Awards and I appreciate the efforts of Edtech Digest showcasing so many innovative ideas and people,” says James. “I am overwhelmed to be a part of this community.”
