Here is a cool tool using AI to great educational impact. TeachMe TV® empowers students 5-12 to discover multiple paths to learning. Through their web-based education platform that provides multimedia, interactive activities, and their proprietary conversational AI Learnavore® named Brenda, they supplement school study with standards-aligned guided learning. TeachMe TV® provides critical feedback, and requires students to reflect on their work, providing ample opportunities to succeed with a growth mindset. Their AI Learnavore® is multilingual and audible providing students many options for communication and guidance in their native language. This is unique as most AI platforms are not audible and do not use speech recognition to help engage students (in their native language.)
The platform is the brainchild of Carolyn Sloan, MS.Ed, award-winning author, educator and media producer. She is supported by co-founder, ex-Google distinguished engineer Nathaniel Fairfield, PhD, Machine Learning and Robotics from Carnegie Mellon. Together they bring interactive media that engages and empowers all students to learn both in their native language, naturally through speech recognition and the written word with AI powered ’Brenda’.
Since their beta launch of the Learnavore® just this past Summer and Fall (2024), hundreds of students, some who speak no English at all are finding ways to learn more effectively in 21st Century Learning Centers across the country. They have partnered with these organizations, thereby impacting students who attend failing schools, Title 1 schools. Schools license the platform annually or through a multi-site, multi-year license. Homeschool families buy annual/monthly subscriptions. They are currently working in Arkansas, North Carolina, California, New York and New Jersey.
For these reasons and more, TeachMe TV is a Cool Tool Award Winner for “Best Artificial Intelligence Solution” as part of The EdTech Awards 2025 from EdTech Digest. Learn more.
