Tapestry makes that possible. Created by CyArk, a nonprofit specializing in the 3D documentation of cultural heritage, this free educational platform brings students into photorealistic environments where history, culture, and place come together.
More than 70 experiences span archaeology, Indigenous heritage, architecture, science, and cultural memory. Students can explore the George Wythe House at Colonial Williamsburg, investigate humanity’s legacy on the Moon, examine ancestral Pueblo architecture at Cliff Palace, experience the living heritage of the Great Mosque of Djenné, or reconsider the history and meaning of Mount Rushmore.
Each Tapestry is developed with the organizations and communities connected to the site, bringing authentic local knowledge and perspectives into the experience.
This is more than a virtual tour. Archival materials, oral testimony, photographs, videos, and historical evidence are embedded within the spaces they help explain. Students don’t simply view a place—they uncover connections among people, events, sources, and history.
Educators are already using Tapestry in classrooms and professional-development settings. CyArk’s new Certified Educator Program is also helping create more classroom-ready resources aligned with grade-level standards.
